Problem/Project: Winter Partners (a Software House in
Switzerland), have a Latin multilingual application called RIBS in
its version 5.0 covering the following Business Domains:
- Multi-currency Accounting System - Banks

-Comprehensive Portfolio Management
Reporting (MIMS)
RIBS has been developed using Technologies from Digital, running
on VMS based systems and has a character mode User interface.
Winter Partner, wanted to technically re-engineer the RIBS
Package, while keeping all of the Business functionality as is (i.e.
Technical re-engineering, Business
Migration)
Solution/benefits received by the client: NileSoft
proposed a new architecture, an Implementation of the J2EE-Multi
tier Standard Architecture defined by Sun. the proposed architecture
based on Multi-channel concept, which enables different types of
clients to connect to the application concurrently.
The project started with a prototype at 1999 after the approval
of the prototype, Full migration is ongoing during year 2000 from
the old technology to a multi-tier architecture.
Technically, this project is built on the J2EE (Java 2 Enterprise
Edition) Architecture. The tools set used in the project are:
- RDBMS: Oracle 8i.
-Application Server: BEA-WebLogic Server

-Java Technologies: Applet/Servelt/EJB/JSP.
This project is currently in its first phase, the estimated
working effort for completion is 22 man years, after the completion
of the project Winter Partners will have a fully web enabled version
of the RIBSX.
